Event Community v1.11 Monthly release

Community v1.11 — Clearer discovery, richer community pages, more reliable calendars

August made community and group pages more trustworthy and polished, with better discovery, event-owned announcement threads, and a round of calendar and sync fixes.

Discovery Community Pages Announcements Calendar Sync Reliability

Highlights

  • Group pages now show only that group’s own events, fixing a trust issue where unrelated organizations’ events were mixing in.
  • Event announcement threads let attendees and ticket-holders reply to event announcements and get notified, not just group followers.
  • Smarter discovery now lets people find events and groups by searching an organization’s name, ranked by distance.

New features

Event announcement threads

Ticket-holders and RSVPs can now see and reply to announcements posted on an event, with replies notifying the announcement’s author and other participants in the thread — closing a gap where only group followers could take part in announcement conversations.

Discovery improvements for organizations

Search and discovery now respect subscription status behind the scenes, and events and groups can now be found by searching for their organization’s name, with nearby results ranked higher than distant ones.

Improvements

  • Group discovery and search results now show which organization a group belongs to, making it easier to tell apart identically-named groups.
  • The cookie consent banner now blocks interaction with the rest of the page until a choice is made, and no longer appears inside embedded widgets.
  • Community pages now use a smoother, more intentional loading experience with subtle entrance animations and layout-matched skeleton placeholders instead of a generic spinner.
  • Group and Google Calendar feeds now include a group’s private events for people who already follow or have access to the group, matching how the rest of the platform treats private events.

Fixes

  • Fixed group pages showing events from unrelated organizations instead of only the group’s own events.
  • Fixed the Reservations/Rentals view spaces page, which was broken.
  • Fixed the ‘Up next’ hero image overlapping event details on tablet-sized screens.
  • Fixed web-only event share links showing an unnecessary ‘open in app’ prompt before going to the web.
  • Fixed Google Calendar sync not pre-filling the calendar feed URL, requiring manual copy-pasting.
  • Fixed Google Calendar sync errors where same-day all-day events or zero-duration events would fail to sync and retry endlessly.
  • Fixed cancelled events becoming permanently unable to re-sync with Google Calendar.
