Ticket Transfers
For organizers: turn ticket transfers on or off in Vega, set deadlines and rules, and what attendees see when they send a ticket to someone else.
Ticket transfers allow attendees to send their tickets to another person. As an administrator, you control whether transfers are permitted and under what conditions.
Enabling Transfers
- Open your event and navigate to Settings > Ticket Policies.
- Toggle Allow Ticket Transfers on.
- Configure the transfer rules:
- Transfer deadline – how close to the event start time transfers are allowed (e.g., 24 hours before)
- Max transfers per ticket – limit how many times a single ticket can change hands
- Require recipient account – whether the recipient must have a Vega account or can claim via email
How Transfers Work
- The original ticket holder initiates a transfer from their ticket dashboard.
- They enter the recipient’s name and email address.
- The recipient receives an email with a link to claim the ticket.
- Once claimed, the original holder’s ticket is voided and a new ticket is issued to the recipient.
Admin Transfer Management
From the Orders & Attendees section of your event, administrators can:
- View the full transfer history for any ticket
- Manually initiate a transfer on behalf of an attendee
- Revoke a pending transfer before it is claimed
- Override transfer restrictions when needed
Tips
- Communicate your transfer policy clearly on the event page to reduce support requests.
- Disabling transfers for certain ticket types (e.g., complimentary tickets) helps prevent unauthorized redistribution.
- If your event requires identity verification at the door, ensure transferred tickets carry the updated attendee name.
